

C. A. is predeceased by his parents Clarence Albert and Ella Russ, his loving wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Webster Russ, and his daughter Elizabeth (Liz) Huggins. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Carol Lynn and Philip Peter; grandchildren, Lisa Huggins; Laurie Robinson and husband, A. C.; Kevin N. Peter and wife, Melissa; and Philip W. Peter and wife, Hayley; 9 great grandchildren, Amber, Kelsey, Austin, Jacob, Caston, Grayson, Jordyn, Hayden, and Payne; his special companion, Joan McMillen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He attended Sam Houston High School in Houston, TX, Texas A & M University, and served in the US Navy during WW II as a member of the Greatest Generation. During his career, he worked for the telephone company, Western Electric, and retired from Exxon Mobil in 1980 after 27 years of service. C. A. was an endowed member of Anson Jones Masonic Lodge #1313, a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church from 1944 – 2000, and a current member of Bethany United Methodist Church. He was known to be able to “fix” anything, and he absolutely loved fishing.
Special thanks are given for the compassion and care of Dr. Patrick Cook and the staff physicians of the Houston Medical Clinic and the Cooley Cardiac Intensive Care Units, St. Luke’s Hospital. We remember also the excellent care and friendships given by the staff and residents of the Bayou Manor Retirement Community.
Visitation will be from 6 -8 pm, Friday evening, March 30 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX 77023. On Saturday, March 312, a memorial service will be held at 10 am at Bayou Manor Retirement Community, 4141 S. Braeswood Blvd., Houston, TX 77096 and the graveside service will be held at 2 pm at Forest Park Lawndale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
