Claudia May Wood

Claudia May Hicks Wood born July 8, 1913 to Ambrose M and Maude Gwynn Hicks in Coleman, Alabama. Claudia went to the arms of God December 7, 2012 at the age of 99 and 5 months. She was predeceased by her husband, J.O. Wood, one daughter, Mary L Sawyer, and 8 brothers and sister. Left to celebrate her life are one sister Bonnie P Hawthorne of Florida, daughters Patsy A and husband William J Breivogel, Bettie P Smith, and sons Jerry L Wood, Oscar F and wife Jo K Wood, all of Houston, Texas, 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and a number of great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Claudia truly loved the Lord and lived her life everyday helping others. When someone she knew was ill or there was a death, she was the first there will a big platter of fried chicken and a pan of cornbread. Visitation will be held 5-8pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 11, 2012. The funeral service will begin at 10am in the Family Chapel followed by interment in the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery on Wednesday December 12, 2012. The family would like to give a special heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Colonial Oaks @ Vista Assisted Living and the very special staff of Grace Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests dontations be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
