Clyde Sidney Sims

Clyde Sidney Sims, 76, passed away Monday, August 3, 2026 in Houston, TX. He was born December 14, 1949 in Sinton, TX to parents Melvin and Genell Sims. Sidney was raised in Sinton then eventually moving to Sheridan, Tx where he graduated from Sheridan High School in 1969. He continued his education at the University of Texas at Arlington playing fullback for the Mustangs and graduated in 1973 with a teaching degree.

He started out teaching, and while in his first year he met Rose on August 1973 at a dance in Weimar, TX. Soon after got introduced to her family and began his plumbing career in September 1974.

Sidney and Rose were married in 1974 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, and eventually bought a house in Timbergrove in 1976 which was their home through today where they raised two boys, Nolan and Jeffrey.

He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He was also a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima and a proud 51-year member of U.A. Plumbers Local 68. Sidney was a Master Plumber and was respected and well known by many in his field. He retired from Gowan Mechanical in 2015.

Sidney is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Sims and Genell Reed. He is survived by his wife, Rose Anne Sims; sons, Nolan Sims and wife Theresa, Jeffrey Sims; brothers, Gary Sims and wife Patsy, Ricky Sims and wife Penny; four grandchildren, Ella Sims, Greyson Sims, Jackson Sims, and Anderson Sims. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Sidney was a great man who was born in the country, loved the outdoors and was very passionate about saltwater fishing throughout the Texas Gulf Coast and hunting. He was an animal lover at heart where he and Rose had many pets through the years. Of his recent years, he thoroughly enjoyed feeding his neighborhood birds, squirrels, raccoons, and whatever else.

As Sidney got into retirement, he enjoyed his daily walks across several city parks and in the neighborhood. One of his favorite pastimes was to find treasures on these walks which could be coins, cash, or a golf ball.

A celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later date.
