On February 26, 1953 a beautiful baby girl, Cynthia Beatrice was born to Rev. Tom Burton Jr. and Ruby Beatrice Flix Burton. She received Christ at the early age of three years old and was baptized by her father at Greater Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. She grew up and went to school in Houston, Texas. She enjoyed traveling as a professional model during her younger years. She also received her certification as C.N.A. (Certified Nursing Assistant). Cynthia also was a poet; she wrote many poems and received awards for her good works. Cynthia was a devoted member of Mount Corinth Baptist Church where she served on the usher and nursing board where she was president for many years. Cynthia exemplified the scripture Philippians 2: 4 "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interest of others" as she used her time here on earth to serve God and serve others. She later became a member of Divine Divide Temple under the leadership of her nephew, Pastor Hermann J. West where she continued to be a beacon of light to others. As a devoted mother of two children, Cynthia surpassed simply being a good mother and as a zealous grandmother, she gave memories that will forever be both priceless and cherished. As a sister, the arms and heart of Cynthia always remained open with unconditional love to share. As an aunt, Aunt Cynthia brought both laughter and lesson to all who respected her. As a friend, Cynthia was just a call away and brought joy everywhere she went. Most of all, as a follower of Jesus Christ, Cynthia lived her life loving God and loving others. Cynthia was preceded in death by Rev. Tom Burton Jr. (Father), Ruby Burton (Mother), Clarence Burton (Brother) and Felicia Burton (Niece). Cynthia is survived by two children: Craig Burton and Pandoria Burton-Sam (Leroy Sam). Eight grandchildren: Gloria Moy, Michael Burton, Cynthia Burton, Beatrice Arbuckle, Terrell Arbuckle, Tashell Arbuckle, Sterling Moy Burton and Antwan Sam. Six siblings: Mary Doris Burton West (Pastor H.L. West), Wilton Clyde Burton (Vera Burton), Ruth Ernestine Burton Patterson White, Rev. Edmund Thomas Burton (Michelle Burton), Edna Teretha Burton Watts, Carol Deborah Burton Brooks and sister-in-law Debra Warren Burton. Three Aunts, Julia Truitt, Odessa Jones (Rev. Amos Jones) and Corine McNeil. Two Uncles: Willie Flix Jr. and Jack Burton. A very close and dear friend Ms. Dorothy Miller and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other friends.
