Cynthia Louise Reeves, 84, passed away peacefully June 27, 2026, after a brief battle with leukemia. Known to all as Cindy, she was known for her selfless acts of service with numerous organizations. She volunteered as a mentor for students, as a member of CERT, (Community Emergency Response Team) and most importantly, for Between Jobs Ministries.
Cindy was born in Stockdale, Pennsylvania, in 1941 to Mae “Bubba” and Stephen Slavonia. Cindy met the love of her life, Don, and the two were married February 24, 1968. In 1971, they had their only child, Donnie, who meant the world to them. They moved to Texas in 1976, building their lives around their son and developing lasting friendships in the Houston area.
Cindy’s career spanned over 50 years as she worked as a personal banker until she was 82 to provide support and service to her clients. She especially enjoyed looking after her older patrons. She advocated for financial literacy and worked with State Representative Valoree Swanson to ensure the priority in schools. Cindy enjoyed the theater, lunching with her friends, and spending time with her family. In 2019, she achieved a lifetime dream of traveling to Israel. She was an active member of her church, feeding her mind spiritually, exercised daily, and promoted living a healthy lifestyle. She was also known to shop on HSN and QVC as one of her favorite hobbies, even having a direct phone number to the shopping channels. After retirement, she enjoyed telling stories of things she saw in her business, even carrying cards as conversation starters entitled “You Can’t Make This Stuff Up.” She enjoyed watching her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and in her final days, watching the World Cup with her son, Donnie.
Cindy carried her favorite Bible verse in her wallet. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. Her Christian values informed every aspect of her life and molded her into the beloved person she was.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents Mae and Stephen Slavonia, her husband Don Reeves II, and her brothers Stephen Slavonia and his wife, Eva Mae, Claude Slavonia, and Dennis Slavonia. She is survived by her son, Don Lee Reeves III, his wife Laura, her grandson, Tyler Stephens, her sisters-in-law Irene Slavonia, Patty Slavonia, Susann Reeves, Janie Reeves, and nephew Nicholas Slavonia, who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
