

Dewey Kenneth Porter (Kenneth to family and DK to friends) died on October 19, 2014. Kenneth is now at rest and safe at home in the arms of God. He was born in Hampton, Arkansas, on December 22, 1941, moved to Pasadena in 1948, and graduated from Pasadena High School in 1961. Kenneth was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969. Predeceased by his mother and father, Gladys and Haywood Porter, brothers Robert Porter and Raymond Porter, sisters Reitha Drummond, Mavis Haygood, Vance Fowler, and Billie Dougharty. He is survived by his loving family including sister, Cecile Castillo of Lake Jackson, TX, brother and sister - in-law, Roger & Pam Porter of Grapeland, TX, sister Mattie (Susie) Porter of Houston, TX, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Art Francia, Sharon Francia, Lisa, Brick, Jordan, Ashley and Sarah Diemer. Kenneth was an avid sports fan who particularly enjoyed college football with his special favorites, Texas A&M University and the University of Houston. He was a good and loyal son, brother, uncle and friend. He was one of a kind, was loved by everyone and he will be missed. The family would like to thank the residents and staff of Bayou Manor for their care, friendship and love which made Kenneth (DK) feel valued and at home. We also thank the medical team at the DeBakey VA Medical Center and St. Luke’s Hospital for their compassionate care. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm and service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Houston, TX. A memorial service will be held at Bayou Manor at a later date. Memorials may be made in his name to Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service, 2002 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030 with memo noting donation to: GPF 9006 - General Patient Fund.
