She is survived by her parents Margaret Pitts of Houston, Texas and Donald Pitts and wife Judy of College Station, Texas, brother, David Pitts of Rainbow City, AL, sister, Dana Lang and husband Everitt of Houston, Texas, nephews Austin Pitts and Bennett Lang, nieces Ashley and Jessie Pitts, long-time friend Erwin (Junior) Dostalik and numerous loving family members and friends.
Darla graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1984 and received her Associates Degree in Business from Houston Community College. She worked several years in the Purchasing Department for the Williams Company in Houston, Texas.
Darla’s passions were art, cooking, exercise, fashion, gardening, traveling and watching football. She also had a fondness for practical jokes. She was known affectionately as Aunt “Dar” “Dar” to her nieces and nephews. Darla loved cycling and used that passion to benefit others. She rode in over 4 MS 150’s from Houston to Austin and rode with The Williams Company team from New York to Houston to raise money for charity.
Her family and friends will always remember her creativity, determinedness, humility, kindness, great fashion sense and being able to see the extraordinary in the ordinary. Darla loved the Lord with all of her heart.
A memorial service celebrating Darla’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, in the Chapel of Houston’s First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Freeway in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Ms. Pitts name be directed to the National MS Society.
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
