David Russell Limbrick III was born on October 19, 1970 to David and Lugenia Limbrick in Houston Texas. David Russell III, (aka Russy or Russ) was the oldest son and second child of 6 children born to David and Lugenia Limbrick. Russell grew up in the north Houston suburbs neighborhood, Pondersosa Forest. He attended school in Spring ISD, graduating from Westfield High School in 1989. In school, Russ excelled in sports such as football, basketball and track. Russ also possessed exceptional talent in art and drawing. Russ’s talent in art and drawing earned him an art scholarship offer, to Texas Southern University in Houston Texas. Russell was reared in the Pentecostal faith and was a member of Holy Trinity COGIC (where his Gilford grandparents were founding members) as a child and as a young adult.
As a young adult Russell worked with foster youth and was revered by the boys, as a much-loved caregiver and one who counseled with the boys; he was someone they felt they could trust with their thoughts and they knew Mr. Russell would hear them and advise them without judgement! They trusted “Mr. Russell” and he was always their preferred caregiver staff! Russell worked with hundreds of kids and was a value during his time with them…In more recent years Russell worked in construction and lawn care with his cousin, Nolan and fellow co-workers, always putting pride into all that he did.
Russell was joined with wife Chrissa and was the doting father of four beautiful children whom he loved dearly. Even when unable to be with his kids, they were always on his heart and mind…Russell rarely had an extended conversation where he didn’t drift to repetitious mentioning of his “babies” now in their 20’s and his new grandchildren. In the same manner, no matter what was happening in his life, he’d call to check in on his brothers, sisters, father and most affectionately, his mother. Russy’s love for his family never wavered!
Russell was one who kept it “real” and though he struggled to overcome circumstances and some personal challenges, he owned his mistakes and longed for deliverance from the situations that had him bound… Our Merciful Father has done just that; on September 5, 2021, our Lord delivered our brother from the pain and anguish that had him pinned. Our brother is free and in the presence of his “Maker” to which he often made reference. We know that we’ll see him again someday! Until that day, rest well son, brother, husband, father, and dear friend…and be assured that we’ll love you forever!
Preceding Russell in death is both maternal grandparents, Robert L. Gilford (Grandaddy) and Simonetta Gilford (Granny) as well as both paternal grandparents; David Russell Limbrick Sr. (Grandfather) and Georgia Limbrick (Mama), aunt, Ruby Jewel Gilford-Reed and a host of extended family members his senior.
Russell is survived by his wife Chrissa, four children: Christopher Limbrick, Julian Rosenbaum, Breahanna Limbrick, and Brittany Limbrick; his parents, David Russell Limbrick Jr, loving mother Lugenia Alcia Limbrick, his five siblings, Eisholla Limbrick, Erikka Washington (Vaughn), Daymeian Limbrick (Rasheeda), Sirick Limbrick, and Hjordis Limbrick, five young grandchildren, Gabriella, Tamia, Christopher Jr., Uriah and Rayshawn Jr., nieces, Cheryl Dove, Parrys Washington, Sniah Limbrick, and Cambria Limbrick, nephews (all listed as honorary pallbearers), in-laws, along with a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
