It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dean Rhea Fishburn, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished member of our community, who passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025 at the age of 78. Dean was the loving husband of 44 years to his wife, Cathy. He was the proud father of sons, Robert and Jascha Fishburn. He was also a decorated military veteran who served in the Vietnam War, receiving the Purple Heart.
Dean was a dedicated musician, business owner and mentor to countless band and orchestra directors and young musicians. His warmth and generosity overflowed when it came to providing young students with instruments. He continuously provided encouragement and support to schools, parents, and students, as one of the owners of Fishburn Violin Shop. He measured his life by the service he gave to others. He was truly an amazing boss, mentor, and leader.
He was the best uncle to his nieces and nephews, and a wonderful father figure to many special people throughout his life. Everyone remembers the countless stories and jokes he told in their band/orchestra offices, as well as the humor he brought to every social gathering.
He loved traveling, caring for his animals, going to Las Vegas, expounding on stories, and making people laugh. To each of you, he was someone. And to those of us who knew him WELL, he was someone SPECIAL.
He is preceded in death by his son, Rolly Dean Fishburn.
