On August 19, 1954, a baby girl was born in Houston, Texas to Isaiah and Myrtle Hines and they named her Debra Annette Hines. Debra confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Reverend Josey. She was a long-time member of South Wesley A.M.E. Church, where she was a member of the Youth Choir, Junior Usher Board and the Senior Choir. Debra attended J. Will Jones Elementary School, Cullen Middle School and graduated from Jack Yates High in 1972. In 2009, she retired as a Supervisor with the Harris County Tax-Assessor-Collector Office, after 20 years of service. On October 30, 2016, the Lord picked up one of his soldiers and told her that the battle was over and her victory had been won. Her spirit has left us, but she will never be forgotten. Debra was preceded in death by her parents, Isaiah and Myrtle; brother, Milton Smith and her husband Andrew Jones. She leaves to cherish her memory: three loving daughters, Damita Hines, Elaina Jones and Jada Combs; four grandchildren, Vandrick, Arabia, Anastasia and Amari; two aunts, Mary Helen Johnson and Lavern Nunn; one sister, Frances Darby; one brother John M. Hines; five nieces, Vanessa, Charmaine, Tenneshia, LaTonjia and LaTashia; three nephews, Alvin, Joseph and Jermaine; eight great nieces, five great nephews, three great great nephews, her beloved dog Chico and a host of relatives and friends.
