Delia G, Diaz, 94, passed away on March 15, 2025. She was born on August 6, 1930, in San Antonio, Texas, to Rodolfo and Eloisa Gonzalez. She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Antonio “Tony” H. Diaz; son Tommy Diaz; parents Rodolfo and Eloisa Gonzalez; and siblings Mario Gonzalez, Gonzalo Gonzalez, Carmen Samaniego, and Emma Reyes. Delia is survived by her son Tony G. Diaz and wife Debra Diaz; daughter Lorraine Diaz Andrews and husband Robert Andrews; daughter Leticia Irving and husband Mark Irving; and sibling Eva Trevino. Delia is also survived by ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, loving nieces and nephews.
Delia and Tony met in San Antonio, Texas, married in 1949, and moved to Houston, Texas, where they raised their family and built a future together. Delia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. When called on, she took an active role in raising her grandchildren and assisting family members. Delia and Tony enjoyed traveling and often returned to their hometown of San Antonio as well as to Mexico to visit friends and family.
Delia was in many ways, a woman ahead of her time. She was a career woman who used her bilingual and clerical skills to garner key administrative positions in a variety of industries; including managing the finances, payroll and hiring for the Selecto Tortilla Factory, a family business founded by her father. Her passion for work followed her into retirement. Delia was affiliated with the Plus 4/Priority Trust Credit Union. This affiliation spanned over thirty years, which included serving as a board member. During this time, Delia and Tony enjoyed many trips abroad and within the United States.
Delia was a force to be reckoned with; passionate, feisty and opinionated, yet loving and generous. She will be missed, but her work here is done. We take comfort in knowing that she is finally at peace with our heavenly father, and no longer burdened by earthly matters.
