

One June 7, 1945, Delores L. Hanley was born at the home of her great grandparents, Noah and Minnie Cruise, 7901 Lockwood Drive, Houston, Texas to the union of Emmit Hanley and Ruthie Mae Perkins-Hanley, both of whom preceded her in death. Her stepfather, Reuben Medlock and brother Althalo Henton also preceded her in death. Preparation for Formal Training - Delores matriculated through J. C Sanderson Elementary School and Kashmere Garden Junior and Senior High Schools in Houston, Texas. Delores attend Prairie View A&M University where she majored in home economics where her love for cooking and sewing begin to grow. As a child Delores was a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church were she was baptized under the leadership of Samuel Smith. She was also a member of Liberty Road Church of God, Houston, Texas and Shadydale Church of God, Houston, Texas, under the leadership of Rev. Samuel A. Greer. Delores united with Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Terry K. Anderson where she remained a member until her passing. She was a member of the Haiti Missions team and she really loved her Sunday School class. Delores was employed with Texas Instruments for fifteen years. She was later employed with Chelsea Catering Company where she worked for 21 year. She retired July 2016. Delores also loved children and at one time operated a home day care service. Delores was a diligent and dedicated worker. If she undertook a task, she would give it all she had to ensure it was a success. Delores also worked with the YMCA Summer Program through Liberty Road Church of God. Her hobbies were cooking, sewing and crafting. She also loved shopping for a good bargain and sharing this information with others. She leaves to cherish many precious memories: daughters, Terra L. (Courtney) Jenkins, Ypsilanti, Michigan and Armenthie E. Hall, Houston, Texas; two granddaughters: Armenthie L. Conwell and Ari E. Mack, both of Houston, Texas; brother: Reuben D. (Theresa) Medlock Minneapolis, Minnesota; two nieces: Carlenia (Cedric) Bouligny, Irving, Texas; Tamiko Carter, San Diego, California; one nephew: Althalo (Taryn) Henton, Jr., Duncanville, Texas; one great nephew: Cedric Bouligny, Jr., Irving, Texas; one godsister, LaSonya Petitt, Houston, Texas; aunts: Irma Dean (Herman) Broussard, Tyler, Texas; Charlene Simmons, Wilmington, Delaware, and Marie Broussard, Houston, Texas; and a host of cousins and friends.
