Dennis Wayne Anderson, 74, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on March 17, 2026. For those who knew Dennis well, the time of his passing—3:16—will not go unnoticed, a fitting reminder of the faith that shaped his life.
Dennis was born on March 30, 1951, in Houston, Texas, to Charles Herbert Anderson Jr. and Mary Ellen Anderson. He grew up in Houston before later moving to La Marque, Texas, where he would meet his future wife, Connie Sue Bratsen. The two lived only two houses apart, a providential proximity that would lead to a lifelong marriage and family.
Dennis pursued his education with a passion for faith and ministry. In 1979 he graduated from Houston Baptist University, studying Christianity and Psychology. He later earned a Master’s Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1986.
Dennis devoted his life to pastoral ministry. Over the years he served churches and communities in La Marque, Iola, and Conroe, Texas. Throughout his ministry he was known for investing deeply in people, particularly young men, helping raise and mentor many who would later serve as leaders in their own churches and communities.
His calling also extended beyond the walls of the church. In Conroe he began a ministry serving the homeless and those often overlooked or forgotten. In later years he served as chaplain at the Montgomery County Jail, faithfully ministering to inmates until his retirement. Dennis also dedicated the grounds of a commercial property that today serves as the site of Refined Technologies, a company committed to fostering a redemptive culture through second chance hiring.
Dennis had a lifelong love of learning and theological reflection. He enjoyed reading, studying church ideas, playing guitar, and listening to music—especially the Beatles, whose songs remained a steady soundtrack throughout his life. He also loved good food, good coffee, farming, and spending time outdoors.
Raised and ordained within the Southern Baptist tradition, Dennis later served in non-denominational ministry contexts while continuing his lifelong devotion to Christ and the work of the church.
Those who knew Dennis will remember his humor, his strong work ethic as a young husband and father, his love for his family, and his ability to bring laughter and warmth into any room.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Connie Sue Anderson; his children Shane Matthew Anderson and wife Jessica, James David Anderson and wife Anne, April Dawn Gustine, Jonathan Wayne Anderson, and Gabriel Michael Anderson and wife Katy.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Madison, Isaac, Mical, and Daniel (children of Shane); Benjamin, Roman, and Asher (children of David); Elliot and Julian (children of April); Oliver and Audrey (children of Jonathan); and Maddie Rose and Levi (children of Gabriel).
Dennis is survived by his brothers Bruce Wynn Anderson and wife Alana, and Peter Lynn Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Herbert Anderson Jr. and Mary Ellen Anderson.
