Diane Gordy was born March 8, 1939 in Houston Texas, to Felix Stephen Knoff and Emily Alby Jackson. She was a single child born to this union of love.
Diane graduated from Austin High School in 1957 and attended the University of Houston to further her education.
Diane attended Grace United Methodist Church under the Leadership of Sister Sara Owen-Gemoets. Diane was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, where she was a active member for 50 plus years. She became a member in the early 1970's and was active until her health began to fail her. During this time of life Diane developed life long friendships with her sisters, while being a member in Beta Sigma Phi she was honored as Queen of her chapter on two occasions, no small feat.
In high school she met Dan, after they attended high school and college together they married and to that union a beautiful baby girl was born, Linda Diane. She was married to Dan for 18 years until God call him home in 1980.
She later married a longtime friend and neighbor Valrie Oliver Gordy, who she loved and cherished for the past 36 years of her life until parted by death.
She worked at Getty Oil for 5 years as a secretary. Diane hearts desire was ensuring that she was able to support her family as best she could. There she became life long friends with Linda and Delia, they were there for her till the end. When Diane ended her time in the workforce she enjoyed being a homemaker. She was outgoing and her presence would light up a room. Diane didn't meet a stranger, she was friendly to all that came in contact with her.
On December 25, 2019, Diane found perfect peace in the arms of God.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dan and her parents, Felix Knoff and Emily Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Valrie Oliver Gordy, her loving daughter, Linda Diane Clingingsmith, her granddaughter, Laura Hood, sister, Leslie Hood, and a host of friends that was her family; her friends were special jewels in her eyes, whom we know will miss her dearly.
For over 9 months, the course of this rough road of illness, her dear friend and neighbor, Darcel, has provided meals, love, and care. We are forever touched by your kind heart.
