

Donald "Don" Eugene Park was born April 3rd, 1932, to Joyce Hohl Park and King Travis Park in Houston, Texas. He grew up in the Heights and Garden Oaks area with his family. Don attended Helms Elementary, Hamilton Junior High, and Reagan High School. Don graduated from the University of Houston in 1955 and proudly served 2 years as a Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. He worked from 1958 until 1966 for L. D. Cooper Trucking Company. He then became a part owner and president of Big Mac Trucking Company. In 2002 he retired as sole owner of Big Mac Trucking Company. Don was an avid golfer having won the 1982 Senior Houston City Championship.
Don spent over 40 years leasing the Adobe Ranch near Del Rio, Texas. He would entertain customers, friends and family while hunting deer. His love of hunting took him to Africa where he shot 25 species which he proudly displays in his Galveston home. He has spent many years hunting in Canada, British Columbia and the Yukon Territory. He also had a love for fishing, having spent over 30 years fishing out of Homer, Alaska where his wife continues to fish each year.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, brother King Travis Park Jr. and both of his sons Donald E. Park Jr. “Gene” and William K. Park “King”. He is survived by his beloved wife Joyce Carr Park, daughters Amanda “Mandy” (Tom) Seiler and Melinda “Cissy” (Russell) McGregor and four grandchildren Lauren Rodriguez, Madolyn, Ellery and Rob McGregor and two great grandchildren, Bennett Cameron and Holden Rodriguez.
Visitation with the family was held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, September 26 at Waltrip Funeral Directors. Committal services followed at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, also in Houston.
