Don Roventin, my father and "POP" to most, has left this earth. He is joining his beloved wife, June, along with his 2 grand-children, brother, sisters and parents. He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, were he was known as one of the best athletes in the city. As a young adult, he served in the Korean War as a proud Marine, on the front lines. When he got out, he then moved to Houston, were he started a family ... never wanting to move back north (due to the cold). He loved Texas, as displayed by the sign he had on the front door for the longest -- "I wasn't born in Texas but I came as soon as I could". That sign is still hanging on our front door. He made his living as a Terrazzo Mechanic and worked for American Marble Mosaic Company his entire life .. not many of us can say that. For those who do not know what Terrazzo is or how it is installed, let me just say, it is one of the most physical demanding trades there is. He was one of the hardest working men, I know --- don't take my word for it, just ask any of the men that worked with him. He was looked up to cause he lead by example. His entire attitude on life was great. He woke up in a good mood .... sometimes that got to be annoying to those of us that don't always wake up on the right side of the bed. He seemed to always have a smile on his face and a laughter that was contagious --- I wish I had gotten more of that gene. He was a loving father and husband. HE found the love of his life when he met June. They experienced over 20 yrs of marriage, that to most of us, seemed as they were on their honeymoon for all those years. His death was sudden and not expected BUT the manner in which he went, was fitting. He fell asleep in his own recliner, at his own house and just never awoke. If there was ever a person deserving of a painless, quick and quiet death, he was. He was the BEST father that I/we could have asked for AND the best person, man and friend that I/we will ever have the pleasure of knowing. I can truly say that I was blessed to have him as my father and best friend !!! He will be missed greatly but NEVER forgotten! He is preceded in death by his parents, Azzelio and Cisira Roventini; wife, June Roventini; grandchildren, Donald Ray Roventini, Jr. and Ashlyn Shoemaker. He is survived by his sons, Bruce Roventini and Donald Ray Roventini; daughter, Vicki Roventini; niece, Barbara Bertin; nephew, Robert Bertin; grandchildren, Michael Roventini and Angie Benevides; great grandchildren, Collin Roventini and Jacob Benevides. Mr. Roventini served in the United States Marines and received a Korean War service metal. In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Donald Roventini to the organization of your choice:
