One day, a female duck turned up in the front yard of Donna and Andy’s home — her leg was broken. Donna didn’t hesitate to care for the duck, and with her neighbors’ help, nursed her back to health. Soon afterward, Donna and her neighbors found the duck a mate so she wouldn’t be alone. Now that duck is a grandmother, and ducks of many different kinds still make Forrest Lake feel a little more like home for everyone who lives there.
That was Donna. In ways large and small, she saw who needed care, and she did everything in her power to assist those in need, usually without telling anyone and without waiting to be asked. She didn’t care about circumstances or what others thought. Donna opened her arms, cared for everyone, and loved without condition. She always looked for the best in people and brought God-sent love and calmness to this world. Donna understood that God had blessed her with these special gifts, and through her, many people of all ages came to know God’s love and accept His will.
Donna was born in Houston to Lillie and George Hall and grew up in the Oak Forest area, where she graduated from Waltrip High School. She became a nurse and spent her entire career at Memorial Hermann Heights Hospital. It became apparent to everyone how many lives she touched in fulfilling her destiny. She was happiest when she was nurturing those in need.
Donna had a great sense of fun and was full of curiosity. Although she was raised in the city, she was a country girl at heart and loved nature. She had a great love of travel — and wished she could have traveled more — but what she truly wanted was simply to be near the people she loved.
Donna left a message for all of us — to accept people as they are and to look for the good in everyone.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie and George Hall, and by her son, Michael Munoz.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Andrew Boswell; her daughter, Rachael Hollaway; her sisters, Deb & Ronnie Frankum and Kim & Mike Krusleski; her stepdaughters, Tracie & Bill Lake and Laura & Jonathan Bowman; her nine grandchildren; her three nieces and nephews; and her in-laws, the Boswell family.
A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, at Pat H. Foley & Company Funeral Home, 1200 W. 34th St. Houston, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Donna Boswell to the Houston Nursing Education Foundation at: https://hnef.org/make-a-donation#
