Dorothy had a heart as big as Texas and was the ribbon that tied her family together. She was mostly known as Dottie by family and friends. She will always be remembered for her giving and unconditional love.
Left to cherish Dottie’s memory are her children; son, Ricky Meekes, Sr. and wife Kathy of Drexel Hill, PA; daughter, Donna (Susie) Rumsey and her companion Roger Snead of Houston, TX; son, Randy Meekes and wife Melissa of Houston, TX. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Dottie retired from her business, Dottie’s Day Care after 30 years. She loved and cared for each child as her own. She left such a wonderful impression that many continued to include her into their adult lives. She truly loved her profession.
Dottie was full of life and took great joy being surrounded by her family and friends.
One of the many things we will miss is her love and joy of preparing family celebrations. Christmas time was magical. She always assured each person received that special meaningful gift. She loved cooking and baking. Some of her family favorites include homemade hamburgers with homemade potato chips, fried shrimp, homemade cinnamon rolls, along with her coconut cream pie. Crocheting was one of her hobbies. She loved customizing her crochet afghans for family and friends.
She will be dearly missed.
