Simms, Dorothy May (Brobeck), born December 26, 1929 passed away after a tough battle on Thursday, March 12, 2020. Dorothy served as a food service worker in Galena Park ISD for almost 50 years, training several managers. She was a lifelong Lutheran, Baptized on April 13, 1930 in Suttons Bay, MI. She was also a faithful member and thorough treasurer of Peace Lutheran Church In Galena Park. She was married to the late John E. Simms for over 45 years.
Dorothy is also preceded in death by her father, mother, a sister, and brother.
She is survived in death by sons: Jimmy (Houston); Bobby and wife Betty (Houston); Danny and wife Carol (Galena Park); 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; Special Nephew Wayne McKinley and wife Sandy of Williamsburg, MI; Sister-in-Law Kathy Simms of Diboll; and niece Jamie (Simms) Parker and husband Craig of Magnolia, and too many friends to count.
Dorothy lived for vacations with her family and spent many summers in Traverse City, Michigan, where she lived before moving to Texas. In her later years she spent time at a small stone cabin in the Ozark Mountains. More recently, she made many trips to Biloxi, Mississippi and kept the souvenir shops busy.
Officiating services will be the Reverend Richard Turner. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Dorothy’s name to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.

Visitation will be at Forest Park Lawndale funeral chapel Monday, March 16, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM with celebration of her life starting at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Forest Park East cemetery, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
