Dorothy Toy

Doris Dorothy Toy went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 27, 2014 after her battle with cancer. She was a charter member of Chinese Baptist Church. She was born on May 20, 1926 in Seattle and raised in Chicago. In 1947 she married Sherman Toy and moved to Houston, where they operated the family grocery store. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, her son, Ron; and her parents, Henry, Sr. and Mary Chan. She is the eldest of 8 children, Henry, Jr., (deceased), Alice Lee, Viola, Jenning (deceased), Jenping, Marie, and Richard. She is survived by her children: Maureen Haugh (Frank), Pamela Grossman (Jeff), Dwight, Tim (Judy), Nora Toy-Desmond (Gerald), 10 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 1 great grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the following: Chinese Baptist Church, 900 Brogden Road, 77024; Amazing Place, 3535 Drexel Drive, 77027; The Gathering Place, 5310 S. Willow Drive, 77035; or Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., 77030-4123. Visitation on Friday, April 4, 2014, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Worship & Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. both at Forest Park Lawndale. Officiant, Pastor Dan Ho. Private interment.
