Edith Viola Pavlicek was born in Engle,Texas on March 21, 1927. She was born to Charles and Julia Marek Jalufka. Edith was the youngest of seven and last surviving of the Jalufka siblings. Edith was united in marriage to James Pavlicek on June 16, 1949, at All Saints Catholic Church, Houston Tx, officiated by Father Gilbert F. Pekar.
Their marriage was blessed with four children Cecelia, James Michael, Patricia, and Cynthia. Edith led an active life where she enjoyed playing bingo, her dog, Blue, polka dancing, going gambling to Coushatta, celebrating her Czech heritage,especially every August 15 at Praha Feast. She was a member of SPJST Lodge 88. Edith worked at Hogg Jr. High in the cafeteria department for 13 years until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband James Pavlicek and son in law Ronald Piwetz.She is survived by daughters, Cecelia Piwetz, Patricia Faske and husband Dennis, Cynthia Alexander and husband Bobby, and son James Michael”Hippie” Pavlicek. Grandchildren, Christine and Stephanie Piwetz, Brittany Faske, Nicole Alexander Cody and husband Travis, and Vincent Alexander. Great grand children, Cason, Luke and Lucille Cody.
A special thanks to A-Med healthcare services for providing compassionate care during her last days. During the past few months she had a gracious caregiver, Carmen Rivera that we were blessed to have by momma’s side giving her support and comfort. Thank you to all family, friends, neighbors and church community for your prayers and support.
Visitation 5p-9p,Rosary Forest Park Lawndale Monday December 16, 7:00 pm. Funeral Tuesday, December 17, 10:00am Christ the King Church 4419 North Main , Houston,Texas 77009. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale. Cemetery, with lunch reception at Church fellowship hall-Roemer hall.
