He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Winnie Munger; his wife, Margaret Glispin Munger; his sisters Alma McManus Robertson, Dezra McManus and Jessie Robertson;Valda Carter and Chancy Carter; brother, George and Theresa Munger; brother-in-law R. V. Welch and son-in-law, Eugene Austin.
Eddie is survived by his sister Ina Welch, daughters and sons-in-law Winnie Mae and Paul Eads; Margaret Ann Austin; and Nita And Richard Heath. He is preceded in death by grandchildren Todd and Denise Eads. He is survived by seven grandchildren and their spouses Troy and Angela Eads, Debbie Eads, Greg, Daryl and Sabrena, and Daren and Stacy Austin; Melissa and William Evans, Brent and Kathie and Corey and Sarah Heath.
He was blessed with 21 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. Eddie is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Eddie was born at home in Wallisville on Lake Charlotte October 10, 1915, celebrating 102 years of a wonderful life. After graduation from Crosby High School, he went to work at Standard Coffee Company and then to Southern Pacific Railroad. He then went to work in the laundry business, opening the first laundry at M.D. Anderson Hospital and then opened the first Medical Center Laundry. He retired in 1979 to garden, fish and hunt.
Eddie was an active member of the Heights Lions Club for almost 70 years. He loved giving of his time to the Texas Lions Camp, Houston Eye Bank and Eye Foundation of which he served as President of all them. He loved his church, Grace Methodist, Houston. As a laundry man for years, he was active in the National Association serving as a director. Eddie received many honors and awards through the years including the Lions International “Ambassador of Goodwill”.
Eddie was a 50 year plus member of Temple Masonic Lodge No. 4 and the Arabia Shrine Temple.
Daddy will be remembered for the joy “he” received quietly doing for others.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Spring Creek Village for their love, kindness and care this past year and Rose of Texas Hospice. Also Ashley and Wilmeisha caregivers that were with him the past few days.
Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, Texas 77060 Tuesday, April 17, from 5 - 8 p.m.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. , at Resthaven Furneral Chapel, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, Texas, 77060 with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
