

Eleanor was born in London, Ontario, Canada on Saturday, April 6, 1940, to parents, Rev. Dr. James and Vera (Robinson) McGinlay. She graduated from Waco High School in 1958 and went on to complete secretarial school. Eleanor retired from Lubrication Engineers after 29 years of service as Executive Secretary to the Vice President.
While in the choir at Sagamore Hill Baptist Church, Eleanor met Donald R. “Don” Smith who became her loving husband of 38 years. They remained in Fort Worth and raised a loving family. Don joined his Lord and Savior in April, 2001. In 2004, she married Nelson Sherrill of Arlington, her loving companion of the last 8 years, who joined his Heavenly Father in February of this year.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Donald and Nelson and a brother, Don McGinlay. She is survived by her daughter, Shawn Barrett and husband Dan of Houston, TX; stepson, Paul Sherrill and wife Cindy of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Grace and Lauren Barrett of Houston; sister, Marilyn Doubrava and husband Peter of Delaware and brother, Rev. James McGinlay and wife Dottie of Fort Worth.
Family and friends gathered to celebrate Eleanor’s life in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church Lakeside, 8801 Jacksboro Highway, Fort Worth, TX 76135, (817) 237-8113, on Monday, April 8th at 2:00 p.m., Reverend James McGinlay officiated.
