08/01/1924 – 08/12/2026
Elizabeth “Betty” Clark was born on August 1, 1924, in El Campo, Texas to Sylvia Doubrava and Henry Hagemann. She was the youngest of eight children. Her family moved to the Dallas area when she was a young girl but eventually made their way to Houston. Betty soon met the love of her life, Virgil Clark, at the ice-skating rink where he was playing ice hockey. They married on February 5, 1944, after he joined the United States Air Force during World War II, and before he was deployed. After the war ended, Betty and Virgil settled in Houston, Texas and soon began expanding their family.
Their son, Donald Clark, was born on August 8, 1946, and daughter Beverly Clark Marules was born on July 6, 1948. Betty and Virgil raised their family in the Houston area, eventually residing in Bellaire, where they remained until retirement. Betty worked for Shell Oil for over 15 years, and after retirement in 1986 they moved to Kerrville, Texas.
After the death of her husband in 1992, Betty began taking bus tours throughout the country. She was a social butterfly who never met a stranger, and she made numerous friends on her journeys across the United States on her trips. In 2002, Betty married Malcolm Beazley, but their marriage ended shortly thereafter when he passed away.
Betty eventually made her way back to Houston in 2012 to be closer to her family. She would eat breakfast at Denny’s almost every day and became friends with many of the regulars who ate there every day as well. She resided in the Atascocita area until her passing.
Betty was most in her element when she was surrounded by people. She had an infectious laugh, always had a smile on her face, and loved meeting new people and making new friends.
She is survived by her son, Donald Clark, daughter Beverly Clark Marules, son-in-law Ted Marules, Sr.; her three grandchildren George Peter Marules, his wife Janell Marules, Kimberley Marules Spurlock, her husband Jimmy Spurlock, and Theodore Marules, Jr. and his wife Stevie Marules; her two great-grandchildren Theo Marules and Spencer Marules; her nieces and nephews Sylvia Wheeler, Gene Hagemann, Buster Hagemann, Tim Hagemann, Lisa Hagemann and Mary Browne, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral will be held at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023 on August 22, 2026, at 12:30 PM, followed by a grave-side service at 1:30 PM. A reception will be held at Forest Park Lawndale immediately following.
