Elizabeth Johnson

(Affectionately known as Liz, Ms. Johnson, Mama. Liz, Lizabet, Bet, and most affectionately Mama Dear), was born on September 22, 1928 in Clodine, Texas to Isom and Curtis Johnson. She attended Brock Elementary and Booker T. Washington School. She retired from Harris County Juvenile Detention Home in May of 1985 after working thirty-one years. She was married to the late L.D. Dever. She was united with Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church at an early age. In 1941 she was united with New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. M.M. Pierson. In 1998 Pastor Tracy s. Phillips became our Church great pastor. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, four sisters and one brother. She is survived by one son, Lawrence J. Johnson, two daughter's Linda F. Taylor, and Janice M. Williams. Ten grand children, Tina Cne' (Husband) Marcus Lockhart, Keisha Taylor, Kimberly Taylor, Keeya & Jonell Williams and Xschelshia Maxie. Four grandsons, Dewayne and Andre' Bembry, Keeyon Williams Sr., and Eric Taylor. Twenty-seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild. One sister Esther M. Mason. Two God daughter's Shirley Jones and Family, Erma Faye and Family. A host of nieces, nephews and family and friends. Some very good friend's Dora E. Ross, Corene Jackson and Sammie s. Maxie and the New Hope Family.
