Elizabeth Mary Kitowski, age 94, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Monday, April 28th, 2025, at home with family by her side. She was born on a farm in Chappell Hill, Texas on July 16, 1930, the fourth of five children of Matthew and Mary Kitowski. Elizabeth spent her early childhood working on the farm alongside her family. She milked cows, picked cotton and tended the garden all while attending school. At age 15, the unexpected passing of her mother Mary in November 1945 brought an early end to her childhood. She dropped out of school and became the matriarch of the family, caring for home, farm and siblings. A couple of years later, after the sale of the family farm, she moved to Houston for employment, sending money home to care for her sister and brothers. In her early career she worked in various industries. Later she settled in as a seamstress at a Houston paper factory. Never shy of hard work and/or long hours she worked as a seamstress for 25 plus years.
Elizabeth loved the Lord, her family, bingo and helping to care for others. She was a source of strength and guidance to all who knew her. She rarely complained, always smiled, had a great laugh and could rattle off some Polish.
Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Pauline Gorski. Her nephew (more like son) and daily caregiver, Ronald Gorski. Her niece Beverly Sangster, husband Gary and family. Her niece Sharon Heinrichs, husband Thomas and family.
A graveside service for Elizabeth will be held Monday, May 5, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
