Sue was the matriarch of the family and loved each and every one with her whole heart. She was a loving and natural caregiver. She devoted years of her life to caring for her mother in law and husband as they both struggled with the destructive effects of Alzheimers. Her devotion to them both set a good example for all.
Sue was a good listener and strong woman. She would gladly spend hours on the phone with loved ones giving advice and listening to their stories while sharing her own story and wisdom with those who would listen. She had little patience with the restrictions that ageing and poor health put on her activities, travel, and ability to see her family as often as she would have liked.
She was very creative and loved painting with watercolors. In her later years, she created some beautiful works of art that family members have been able to enjoy. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always wanted to create memories for them so they would remember her always. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her family and enjoyed bragging on them when given the opportunity. She was thrilled that one of her great grandchildren was named after her.
Sue started her career at the University of Texas Dental School as a Sterile Processing Technician. In years following, she excelled as a saleswoman and broke many barriers by being one of the first and most successful women in auto parts sales. She gained admiration and respect in this male dominated industry by her straightforward and no-nonsense approach to her job. She gained many friends in this industry.
Sue had a strong and simple faith, knew Jesus, understood the mystery of the Trinity and the power of the Holy Spirit. She was exceedingly generous to her family and others. She never failed to reach out to someone that she saw in need and often gave him or her the opportunity to better his or her lives through her generosity.
Due to Covid, the Celebration of Life will be postponed to another date, hopefully in the Spring. A private Graveside Ceremony to be determined at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to Faith In Practice, faithinpractice.org or Alzheimer’s Association, https://act.alz.org/donate
