Erick von Gerbitz, 41, passed away on October 5, 2026. Born on August 11, 1985, Erick resided in Houston, Texas. He will be remembered with deep respect for the steady way he met life—showing up with purpose, taking pride in honest work, and bringing quiet strength to those who counted on him.
Erick graduated from Aldine High School, a milestone that marked the beginning of a life shaped by determination, hard work, and follow-through.
Throughout his career, Erick worked as a traveling electrician with IBEW Local #602. His work reflected a disciplined commitment to doing things the right way, wherever the job took him, and a reliability that spoke louder than words.
Above all, Erick was a father. He was the proud father of three boys—Jason, Isaac, and Logan—and his love for them stood at the center of his life. His boys were an important part of his world, and the love he had for his family will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
Erick also made room for the things that brought energy and meaning to his days. He loved working out, exploring new restaurants, and making music. These passions reflected his drive, curiosity, and creativity, as well as his appreciation for new experiences and the things that made life meaningful.
Erick was preceded in death by his father, Donald M. Gerbitz.
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his brothers and sisters: Matthew G. Gerbitz (Angela), G. Michael Gerbitz, Lisa L. Brown, Jamie G. Massey (Ramey), Donald M. Gerbitz Jr. (Rosemary), and Karl V. Gerbitz.
He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: O. Richard Rodriguez, Athena L. Rodriguez, Anicia L. Rodriguez (Edzel Maniego), Cristian A. Aviles, Ashley N. Edwards, Dylan Ansbro, Brenna Nowlin (Samuel), Alexia, Athecia, Karl Jr., and Adrian Gerbitz; and his great-nieces and great-nephews: Arist Kelemete, Alena Estrada, Annalea Aviles, and Valentina Torres.
Though Erick's life ended far sooner than those who loved him could have imagined, his memory will live on through his three sons, his family, and all those whose lives he touched. The love he gave, the work he took pride in, and the memories he created will remain a part of the people who carry him in their hearts.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
