Ernestina D. Montemayor

Ernestina D. Montemayor, age 92, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, entered into eternal rest on the 12th of June, 2012 in Houston, Texas. She was born on the 28th of December, 1919 to Prudencio and Josefa DeLeon in Sabinas, Hidalgo, N.L., Mexico.

Surrounded by her loving family, she peacefully departed only to be reunited with the love of her life and husband of 70 years, Santiago V. Montemayor. Embracing her in Heaven were her sons Oscar D. and Frank D. Montemayor, her daughter Maria L. Inclan, and her daughter-in- law Perla R. Montemayor. She is survived by her daughters Elda M. Landin (Francisco Sr.) and Elsa M. Murillo (Victor Sr.); son Jimmy D. Montemayor (Margaret) and son-in-law Ramon G. Inclan; sister Delia Guzman; and brothers Timoteo Esquivel and Rodolfo Deleon. Left to cherish her legacy include her loving grandchildren (23), great-grandchildren (32), great-great-grandchildren (2), extended family and dear friends.

Our beautiful Wela was a compassionate woman who believed in the meaning of family, of marriage, and of the love for a child. She dedicated her life to her family, always reminding us how important we are to each other. Her seventy years of marriage to Santiago showed us what true love really meant, a lesson that she taught to show us that anything is possible if our hearts are in the right place. She loved her children unconditionally, and her grandchildren even more. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and painfully missed by all who loved her. After her soulmate left, she fought against the odds to stay with us as long as she could until finally my Welo missed her so much that he reached down and said “Andale vieja, te estoy esperando.”

A Rosary will be recited Sunday, June 17, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Ave. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. A 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday, June 18, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 4918 Cochran St., with burial immediately following at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
