Esperanza was born in Seguin, Texas on May 9, 1939 to Manuel and Senobia Cuéllar. At 19, she married her first love Eloy Leibas Jr, and together they shared 67 wonderful years of love, faith, and family. Esperanza enjoyed watching her favorite shows, listening to Elvis, and shopping for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Christmas was her favorite holiday and family gatherings gave her much joy.
Esperanza is preceded in death by her brothers Isaac Macías and Luis Macías, and brother-in-law Frank Gómez. She is survived by her husband, Eloy Leibas Jr; sisters Espiridiona Gómez and Diamantina Tavares; sisters-in-law Alice Macías and Gloria Macías; brother-in-law Juan Tavares; children Sylvia Abbott and husband Leonard, Eloy Leibas III and wife Maria, Deborah Asher and husband Lawrence; grandchildren Ginette Padilla, Olivia Abbott, Eloy Leibas IV, Crystal Leibas, Adam Asher, and Steven Asher; and great-grandchildren Ethan Padilla, Louis Padilla, Eliana Leibas, Juliette Leibas, and Ellis Asher.
A church funeral will be held on October 17, 2026 at 10:00AM at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 8150 Park Place Blvd., Houston, Texas 77017, followed by a burial at noon at Forest Park East, 21620 Gulf Fwy., Webster, Texas 77598.
