Estelle Riley Carter, 99, a Native Houstonian was born on August 4, 1925 and passed away peacefully in her sleep early on July 28, 2025, at Liberty Seasoned Care Center of Katy. She was looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday with fellow residents in just nine days.
A graduate of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, she went on to graduate studies at The University of Houston, before beginning a career in education. On July 2, 1945, Estelle and John Grady Carter, Jr were married at the First Baptist Church of Huntsville. They made their home in west Houston. Mr. and Mrs. Carter shared varied business ventures before settling into the one which held their passion, Carters Antiques and Collectibles.
Estelle was preceded in death, by her loving spouse John, and daughter, Cynthia Ann Carter. She is survived by her daughters, Carter McCale Maynard and Brenda Carter Warkow, and grandchildren Kirsten Kaye Warkow and Clint John Warkow.
