

She was the daughter of Bernard and Ardath Porcarello, born on November 7, 1930 in Houston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents and brother, Bernard (Benny) Jr. and her loving husband, Walter. She is survived by her children Ardath (Steve) Collen, Donna (Dale) Wilson, Karen (Randy) Speaks, W. Allen (Susan) Ebelt Jr. and George (Kelly) Ebelt, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She spent her youth in the Lindale neighborhood, working at the pool and going to school and dances, particularly square dancing, including many CYO and USO-sponsored events. It was at the pool where she met and later married her husband, Walter Ebelt. Married in 1953, they raised five children in Houston and Spring, Texas. Her life revolved around her family, church, work, and caring for her parents and grandparents. Her days were filled with work, supporting her children and grandchildren through FHA and FFA events, speech tournaments, little league baseball, high school and collegiate football, band concerts, piano recitals and swim meets, among others. She loved gardening, crabbing, bingo, dominoes,and slot machines. Maurice and Walter loved to travel and took many wonderful vacations from Hawaii to Florida to Madeira, Portugal and many destinations in between, often with one of their children or grandchildren. She excelled at many careers, including banking, Tupperware and Dynique sales and finally joint owner of Back Home Bakery. She was a founding member of St. Edwards Catholic Community in Spring, Texas and served in many capacities, including Our Lady of the Pines Chapter of the Catholic Daughters, Altar Society , Compassionate Cooks and led the counting team for many years. She was committed and diligent In all she did for her family, her community or on the job. She loved her "Italiano" heritage and being part of a large, but close-knit, extended family. She delighted her children and grandchildren with many unique expressions, especially "oh foot" when confronted with something frustrating. We'll never forget her infectious laugh and using it to locate her in the crowd. We celebrate her life and the amazing lessons and memories she left us all.
Visitation will be held at Earthman Resthaven, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060, on May 6,2026 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a Rosary the same day at 6:30 pm.
Funeral services will be held at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 2601 Spring Stuebner Rd., on May 7, 2026 at 10:30 a.m.Lunch will follow in the Parish Hall. Burial is at 2:30 at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
