Eudora DeRouen

Eudora Robbie Hannah DeRouen, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014 at her Houston home from pancreatic cancer. Born in Houston, Texas December 17, 1933 to L.J. Hannah and Catherine Shanks, she was raised in Houston, Texas and graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School. She later met and married Hara Lee Washington from which ten beautiful children were born Harold Lee Washington, Joe Dell Washington (deceased), Lady Marie Washington-Berger, Penny Ella Moon (Fatima Kareem), Renetta Anne Moss, Venus DeCarlo Shelton (deceased), Alfrida Marie Washington, Thalia Dawn Washington, Ikie Mae Washington-Cofield and Keith Aaron Washington(deceased). Eudora was a dedicated mom and was admired by the moms of Piney Point (Cavercrest) for her ten well-kept kids. She was known as the "neighborhood mom." She went on to attend Franklin Beauty School and was certified as a cosmetologist. After raising her children she dedicated her life to helping kids city-wide as a City of Houston's Parks and Recreation department employee where she worked for twenty-five years. Her second chance at love came about when she met and married Richard DeRouen. This was the beginning of 25 years of travel and zydeco dancing together. She finally found her dancing partner and he never tired while dancing with "his beautiful wife". Richard was a doting husband until her death. Eudora is survived by her husband, seven children, sixteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
