OBITUARY

Eugene Leslie Dobesh

July 26, 1931August 9, 2019

Eugene Leslie Dobesh, 88, passed away Friday, August 9, 2019. Born in Houston, Texas July 26, 1931 to Ludvik and Bessie Rose Dobesh. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elsie Gilfond, and his in-laws, Edward and Willie Mae Stang. A faithful and loving husband and father, Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Jo Dobesh, their two children: Debra Elaine Barnhart and her husband, Peter; Craig Lawrence Dobesh and his wife, Katie; and his brother, Bob Dobesh and his wife, Pat. Eugene is also survived by his two grandchildren, who were the source of endless happiness and joy in his life: Jordan Faye Barnhart and Grace Elizabeth Barnhart.

An energetic and active gentleman to the end, Eugene enjoyed radio control airplane modeling and flying, working outdoors, and being known as the man who could fix just about anything. Having had several oil field equipment patents to his credit in his 30+ years in the oil & gas industry in Houston, including one for the world’s largest meter prover, Eugene loved a challenge. He was very active in the local SPJST lodge and was very proud of his Czech heritage. Having visited Czechoslovakia twice in his lifetime, Eugene was not your typical tourist. He made sure he could speak Czech on his visits and continued to challenge himself on fluency of the language even after his return home.

Eugene provided a constant source of smiles and laughter to his family and he will truly be missed

Dear Craig and Katie, Tonya and I want to extend our sincerest condolences at the loss of your father. While we never had the pleasure of meeting your dad, by all accounts he was a great guy. There is little than one can say to ease the pain of your loss, but know that we are praying for not only you and Katie, but your mother and extended family as well.

Warm regards and sincere admiration, Clint and Tonya
