Eunice W. Hill, 95, of Texas City, TX a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, passed away peacefully at The Resort in Texas City, TX surrounded by her loving family on February 17, 2020. She was born in Liberty, TX on January 24, 1925 to Edward and Emma Williams, Sr. In 2011, Eunice moved to Texas City from her home in Houston to live with her daughter.
Eunice graduated from Huntsville High School in 1942. She loved playing her clarinet as a member of the High School marching band for 4 years. She learned to sew from her mother and became a very talented seamstress, doing alterations and sewing original designs of clothes for many customers during the next 70 years of her life. She once made a dress for Miss Houston and created a beautiful wedding dress for her granddaughter. In the early 1960’s she helped sew costumes for the Houston Symphony for a year or 2. Around the early 1990’s McDonald Douglas in Nasa hired her for about 6 months to help create & sew the covers needed for the Practice Space Station. She was very proud of that work.
Eunice was an avid gardener and had a green thumb. She raised and sold flowers and plants from her backyard greenhouse for 30 years and was awarded neighborhood honors for her yard. She also liked to grow vegetables and a few fruit trees for family and personal use.
She looked forward to some very special and important events in her life such as the family reunions we attended regularly. We met with her mother, dad, sister, and brother and their families every Christmas day for many years. Eunice’s mother and 7 other sisters and brothers met annually with their families for the Jackson reunion in Shreveport, LA. She loved attending this reunion and did so for most of her life. She was loving known as “baby Eunice” in this family because her Aunt was also Eunice.
Our precious loved one was raised as a Baptist and she loved the Lord throughout her moral and very selfless life. She always loved her family unconditionally and was there any time any of us needed her love and support. She loved to prepare delicious dinners for her family to be together for many special occasions. We especially loved her roast and her cherry cream cheese pie.
Eunice loved music and singing in the choir of the churches she attended throughout her life. She loved harmonizing with others on special songs. Eunice and her husband, Wimp, were members of Allendale Baptist Church in Houston, TX for 35 years. After moving to Texas City, she attended Northside Baptist Church with her daughter and joined the church choir at 91 years old. She also loved to sing with others on some special songs until she was no longer able to do so.
Eunice was a wonderful, loving person who never met anyone who didn’t like her. We all love her dearly and will miss her greatly, but we know she is now at peace with the Lord in Heaven with all her dearly beloved family who are waiting there to welcome her.
