On the 2nd day of September in 1949, our Heavenly Father smiled and blessed the world with a beautiful creation. She was the fourth child and second daughter born to Clementine “Mister” and Donnie Hughes whom they named Eunice. At a very early age, Eunice accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and began her spiritual journey at Hosley Temple C.M.E. Church.
Eunice was a product of the Houston Independent School District. She began her academic career at Langston Elementary and graduated from Kashmere Senior High School. Eunice then attended Franklin Beauty School for Cosmetology.
Eunice settled at Hughes Tools, Inc. a few years after leaving beauty school. She remained there until she accepted a position at Lyondell-Citgo, following in the footsteps of her father and oldest brother. Lyondell was a place she loved and she established many lifelong friendships there until her retirement in 1999.
Eunice gave birth to a daughter, Kelli Minnette, in 1981. Although Kelli was her only biological child, she was a mother to many and her door was always open to whomever needed it.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clementine and Donnie, siblings Harry and Lillian, her beloved cousin Michael Jackson and her special niece, Nekeia “Nikki.”
On Thursday, August 6th at 5:25p.m. heaven’s gates opened to receive our angel. Leaving to cherish in her memory are her daughter, Kelli Alexander (Louis); her grandchildren Samuel and Louis Jr; her bonus grandchildren Thomas and Monae; her siblings, Clemmie Hughes (Doris), Marvin Hughes (Carolyn), Dennis Hughes (Andrea) and Sharon Carmon; her beloved nephew Lee as well as host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
