Eva Margaret Marez (Margaret) passed away Monday, April 25, 2022 in Pearland, Texas. She was born in Beaumont, Texas in 1929 to Daniel and Elena Lueveno, the only girl among four brothers. On July 26, 1947, six days after her 18th birthday, she married Raymond L. Marez in Houston, Texas where they lived before eventually moving to Oakland, California. They were married 57 years.
While living in Oakland, Margaret and Raymond often hosted family and friends who wanted to escape the Texas heat. Margaret loved to take walks around her neighborhood, and met people wherever she went. If you visited Margaret and Raymond, you most likely went to San Francisco to get ice cream from Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, listened to the sea lions at Pier 39, enjoyed a glass of wine in Napa Valley or took a road trip in their blue Lincoln to Reno, Nevada to go gambling. Breakfast at her house always included homemade flour tortillas and papas with bacon.
When Margaret wasn’t home entertaining, she went on cruises with Raymond, and loved to shop for clothes, shoes and jewelry while traveling.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Elena Lueveno; brothers, Henry, Jimmy and Raymond Lueveno; daughter, Guadalupe Crowley (2009), and husband, Raymond L. Marez (2004).
She is survived by her brother, Daniel Lueveno Sr. (Emily); grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews from California, Michigan and Texas.
Special thanks to Dr. Steffanie Campbell of Kelsey Seybold Clinic.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Margaret's favorite charities: St. Jude Memorial Foundation, The American Cancer Society and Hospice Foundation of America.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022 from 5-9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held May 3, 2022 at 11 a.m., and a graveside ceremony will follow at noon.
