Evelyn Beatrice Porter, beloved mother, joined her husband, Woodrow Porter, in eternal rest on Tuesday, 22 February 2011. She was born on 18 October 1919 to Stephen and Maudie Block in Houston, Texas. Evelyn married Woodrow Porter in 1939; they were married 61 years and raised their family of four children together. Evelyn was a member of the Berean Christian Church, Pipefitters L.U. 211 Retirees Club and the Houston Women's Bowling Association.
She was the recipient the Alpha Centuri Award for 35 years of service to the league. She loved to travel and took numerous trips with her husband and her bowling companions.
She is survived by her children and their families, Judith & Gene Betts, Wilson & Susan Porter, Jimmy Porter, and Paul & Patty Porter. She has 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Viewing and visiting with the family is Thursday, 24 February 2011, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home.
The funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, 25 February 2011 with Jerry Hollman officiating; interment to follow at Forest Park Cemetery.
