Helen Faustine Hobbs Parker, known lovingly as Faustine and “Grammie” to her grandchildren, passed peacefully on May 21, 2026. Faustine was born on September 21, 1933 in Ben Wheeler, Texas to Hiram Emory Hobbs and Thelma Sanders Hobbs.
She attended Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, where she was actively involved in student life, participating in multitude of activities including history club, press club, student council, Spanish club, and Brigadiers. She continued her education at Lee College, where she served as vice president of Le Cercle Français and was voted Most Beautiful Girl her sophomore year. She later graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Education.
Faustine devoted her career to teaching, shaping young minds as a middle school English teacher and high school speech instructor at North Shore Junior High School, Northwest Academy, and Clifton Middle School. She was known not only for her passion for education, but also for the encouragement, confidence, and care she instilled in her students.
Faustine lived and raised her family in Houston, TX and could often be found square dancing alongside her handsome husband as part of the Stomping Saints dance club. Her life was filled with simple joys and meaningful traditions, many of which centered around bringing people together. She loved to cook, host, and entertain, and was well known for her dinner parties, where family and friends gathered around her table with full plates and even fuller hearts.
Summers were especially cherished, as each grandchild would travel to spend a dedicated week with Faustine and Robert at their home in Weir. These one-on-one visits became the highlight of the year, thoughtfully planned by Faustine to be filled with activities, treats, and experiences tailored to each grandchild, creating memories that will be treasured for a lifetime. She also enjoyed camping with her family, creating adventures wherever they went. During her years in Weir and Hempstead, Faustine found fellowship through her church, where she enjoyed playing bunco and building lasting friendships.
Faustine had a special talent for making things feel festive and welcoming. Her collection of knickknacks and holiday décor filled her home with personality, and she took great pride in finding the perfect treasures, often from the Dollar Store or Arnie’s. Her Christmas cookies became a beloved tradition, eagerly anticipated and enjoyed by all who knew her.
Above all, Faustine was devoted to her family. She found joy in the everyday moments, whether hosting, celebrating, teaching, or simply being together. Friends and family can attest that she brought warmth, energy, and a sense of occasion to everything she did, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Faustine is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert Samuel Parker; her parents; and her brother, Richard. She is forever remembered by her children, Pam Parker; Penny Crane and husband Kevin; Scott Parker and wife Diane; her grandchildren, Michael Cardone, Haley Boyle and husband Michael, Dylan Parker and wife Alex, and Colin Parker and wife Hannah; and her great grandchildren, Lake, Reef, Cove, Briggs and Olive.
