

Fernando was born in Houston, TX on February 19, 1952 to Hortencia Sanchez and Fernando Hernandez Alderete and grew up with his six siblings: four sisters, Lupe Serna (deceased), Teresa Estrada, Virginia Alderete Montoya, and Dolores Ulloa, and two brothers, Tony Alderete (deceased) and Paul Alderete.
An accomplished artist with a strong work ethic, Fernando graduated from Jefferson Davis High School and then began a long career with Foley’s (now Macy’s) from which he retired after 45+ plus years. He was a lifelong fan of the Astros, Rockets and Oilers who grew to love and root for the Texans. He also was an avid collector of antiques and toys.
Fernando is survived by his former wife and close friend, Cynthia Alice Alderete and his three daughters, Stephanie Renee Coronado, Tanzie Faith (Jesse) Garza, and Dyani Hope (Chris) Banda, all who reside in Houston. He was proud of his twelve grandchildren, Albert Torres, Jr., Rene Torres, Christopher Torres, Adam Torres, Jordan Valverde, Natalie Garza, Briana Valverde, Tony Valverde, Jr., Sidney Valverde, Jacob Valverde, Noah Banda and Olivia Banda as well as his seventeen great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Friday, July 18 from 10AM-12PM with a memorial service beginning at 12PM.
