In the early morning of his 69th birthday on July 16, 2026, Fidel Aguilar Vergara, was called home by his Heavenly Father. Fidel was a devoted husband, loving father, an amazing grandfather and a beloved great grandfather whose strength, generosity, and unwavering love for his family defined his life.
Fidel attended Harlingen High School and later attended college in Edinburg, Texas, as well as Kansas City, Missouri. Throughout his life, he took great pride in his accomplishments, especially the work he and his family put into remodeling their home and creating a life filled with love, stability, and cherished memories.
For more than 48 years, Fidel shared a beautiful marriage with his high school sweetheart, Ruth Rodriguez Vergara. Their love story began years before they married, having dated for four years before beginning their lifelong journey together. Their marriage was built on faith, loyalty, and an enduring commitment to one another.
Together, Fidel and Ruth raised three children, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy: Fidel R. Vergara, Jr., Monica V. Martinez, and Veronica L. Vergara. His family was the center of his world, and nothing mattered more to him than being a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin and friend.
Fidel was known for his faithfulness, generosity, hard work, honesty, loyalty, resilience, and deep devotion to those he loved. Those who knew him will remember the amazing spirit he brought, dependable character, and willingness to help others. He was a man whose actions consistently reflected his values.
Outside of his family, Fidel enjoyed watching sports like his Dallas Cowboys, the PGA and MMA. He would follow the Houston teams because of his son and grandsons’ passion for those teams. Fidel enjoyed playing a round of golf with his golfing buddies. He loved working on his home and helping his family work on projects at their home too. He found satisfaction in staying busy, home improvement projects, and spending time with his family.
Above all else, Fidel's legacy is one of love. He was deeply devoted to Ruth and to his children, and he was grateful for the large, close-knit family they built together over the years. His life serves as a lasting example of commitment, perseverance, and unconditional love. He lived life the way he wanted to live it.
Fidel Aguilar Vergara will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, children, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May he rest in eternal peace.
