Florence Mae McWhorter

Florence was born on February 23, 1929 in Houston, Texas to Louis Fredrick & Florence Mae Alberti. Florence was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker who loved to cook. Florence loved to bake and her specialty was pies. She was known as the “pie lady” for all the pies she took to her doctors, dentists, firemen at the local fire station, family and friends. Florence loved camping in her younger days with her family and they went to Garner State Park for month-long vacations during the summers. She was loved and will be missed by her family.

Florence is preceded in death by her husband, William Henry McWhorter, and her eldest son, William H. McWhorter Jr. (Dub) and three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her youngest son, Michael Gene McWhorter and wife Nancy; daughter-in-law Dana McWhorter; granddaughter, Tammy Rene McWhorter Pavalock and husband Bryan; grandson Steven Wade McWhorter and wife Jackie; granddaughter Ashley Nicole McWhorter; and great-grandsons Michael Loren McWhorter and William Dean McWhorter.

A visitation for Florence will be held Monday, August 26, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. A funeral service will occur Monday, August 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM. A committal service will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
