Frances Ann, the eldest child of Frank Stabler and Bessie Corso Stabler, was born on November 27, 1943, at St, Joseph's Hospital in downtown Houston. She attended Blessed Sacrament and Annunciation elementary schools and graduated from Incarnate Word Academy in 1961. After high school, she applied to the Durham Business College of Houston where she received an Associate degree in Secretarial Science. She worked for Tenneco Gas Company for several years before assuming her permanent role as a housewife and homemaker. She had met her future husband, Paul Bonno, in high school in 1961 and after a four-year courtship; they were married in the evening of November 19, 1965 at Annunciation Catholic Church - A True Love Story that lasted for over 63 years. In her later years, she worked as a Librarian and school secretary at St. Christopher's Catholic School.
Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, cooking, music, and travelling. After a Celiac Disease diagnosis in 2000, she created many gluten free recipes and became an active member of the Houston Celiac Support Group. She was a member of the Charity Guild of St. Joseph for a while and would attend some of their charitable functions with her mother, Bessie. Among the special moments in her and Paul's life were the many opportunities they had to attend concerts of their favorite music artists.
1Corinthians, Chapter 13 states in the Bible that "Love is patient, Love is kind and not jealous; Love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered; love never fails." These words from the Apostle Paul are exemplified by the life of Frances Ann. She loved her husband and both of her sons unconditionally. She loved her family members and friends. She was always ready to help others when called on and never spoke unkind of another. Through all the sicknesses she endured - celiac disease, breast cancer, eight-hour craniotomy to remove brain tumor, macular degeneration, Dementia - she never complained. She accepted her life as it was and sickness as a normal part of our human life; always thinking God for what she had. "Lord Jesus, I trust in you" was her daily pray, especially in the last months of her life. The innocent child like smile she possessed was so precious and contagious it expressed her loving personality perfectly.
In the last month of her life, her condition declined rapidly. Her race was coming to an end. On the morning of Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 8:43am, Frances Ann passed from this earth to her eternal reward with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The moment of her passing was peaceful, comfortable, quiet - the transition from death on earth to everlasting life in heaven. And the smile that appeared on her face was her gift of consolation to all of those left behind.
She was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Bessie Stabler and brother, Carlo. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Paul; sons, Paul Jr and Steven; and brother, John and his wife, Jackie. Also by numerous relatives and friends.
A special thank you to her caregiver, Bonnie Burden for the special care and love she provided.
