Frances Jean Moore

Frances Jean Moore, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2024. Jean’s greatest joy was her family and she delighted in all of their accomplishments and events.

Jean was preceded in death by her son Timothy, and the love of her life, husband Dan.

Jean was a proud native Houstonian and grew up going to Temple Beth Israel. She graduated from the University of Houston in 1951 with a degree in Fine Arts. She was a member of The U of H Buckaroo Riding Club. She was a busy mother of five, always involved in her kids’ endeavors and shenanigans. Dan and Jean enjoyed an active retirement filled with golf, tennis, travel, fish fries and entertaining grandkids until Dan’s passing in 2004.

She moved to Missouri City, TX to be closer to daughter Trish, and sons Dan and John. Shirley was always happy to travel to Missouri City from Ohio to stay at Mom’s house. Jean resumed her artistic talent at age 80 and produced paintings for all her children and “grands”. She was never satisfied with her work but every masterpiece is a real treasure.

She moved to McKinney, TX in 2020 to be close to Shirley and weathered COVID in her independent living apartment. She took great joy in getting to know the great grandkids in McKinney

Prayers were answered in November, 2024 after bouts of illness when granddaughter Emily offered her home as Grandma’s residence and to be her caretaker back in Missouri City. Emily cared lovingly and capably for her Grandmother and provided a warm home, great food, and hours of critiquing Chopped. Having Emily’s children Parker and Mathias and dog Beau at the house enriched Jean’s life immensely.

Jean is survived by daughter Shirley Levey (David), granddaughter Jennifer Hoke (Dewey), great grandchildren Josh Hoke (Tyler) with great great grandchildren Jane, Jude and Luke and great grandson Cecil Hoke. Granddaughter Olivia Rogers (Brandon), with great grandchildren Madeleine, Cole, Ashlyn, Lily and Ileigh. Daughter Trish Sams (Mark), granddaughter Emily Schaffhausen with great grandchildren Mathias and Parker. Grandson Andrew Aldridge (Lauren), great grandson Liam. Grandson Scott Aldridge (Dani), great granddaughters Elliot and Della Jean. Son Dan Moore(Deb), grandson Michael Moore (Brittani) with great grandchildren Luke and Laurel and grandson Danny Moore. Son John Moore (Roseann), granddaughter Mary Frances (Darren) and grandson Cliff.

Graveside services will be held Monday, April 8 at 12:00 pm at Forest Park Lawndale, Houston, TX
