Frances was born in Houston, Texas, on March 14, 1950, to Frank and Christine Komincak. She grew up mostly in Lindale Park, attended Holy Name and Incarnate Word Catholic schools, and graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1968. She began her over 40 year long career at Southwestern Bell / AT&T before graduating high school. She married her high school sweetheart, Benjamin “Biff” Reed, Jr., on July 12, 1969, to whom she was very happily married until his passing in 2022.
Frances was devoted to her family and loved taking vacations with them. Not long after getting married, Biff and Frances raced to the Grand Canyon in their 1971 Camaro and spent time carousing around South Texas border towns. After Steven and Jennifer were born, they pulled a pop-up camper to the Ozarks, throughout the Midwest, and to Big Bend. They wandered around West Texas and the Hill Country and spent many weekends in small towns across the state. In her later years, she and Biff explored the wonders of Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, cruised and travelled to Utah, Wyoming and Disney World with her daughter’s family. She even braved travelling alone to visit friends at a wedding in North Dakota after Biff’s passing.
Frances made sure her family was involved in many things. She would go to fishing tournaments with Biff, even winning a few trophies herself. She ensured her children had a strong education by sending them through the Catholic school system and got them involved in dance, soccer, T-ball, and little league. She enjoyed dining out with the family, loved to shop and was always up for a car ride especially with her grandson Braden and sister Bobbie. She loved cheering on Braden at his baseball games and taking him to Family Night at Chick-fil-A. She was the best Aggie grandma and was always supporting Hunter during his years at Texas A&M. There was nothing Frances would not do for her family, and she made sure that they had everything they wanted and more. She was the best mom and mimi and her absence will be difficult, but knowing how much she loved and cared for everyone will heal those wounds.
Frances is survived by her children, son Steven and daughter-in-law Cynthia; daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Christopher Bull, and grandsons Hunter and Braden; sister Barbara Rybarski and sister-in-law Becky Lunsford.
