Frances Ann Swanson, age 76, passed away in Houston, Texas on August 29th, 2023. Frances was born on May 9, 1947, in Houston, Texas at Heights Hospital to parents John Hiram Moon and Luvinia Bell Griffin. Frances was a beloved wife, relative, friend, and nurse to all that knew her.
Frances earned her associate in nursing in 1975 from San Jacinto College. She continued her long career in the medical field working at various facilities in Houston and Baton Rouge in the cardiac catheterization and angioplasty field. She retired from Houston Methodist Hospital in 2009
Frances married Steven Joel Swanson on March 16th, 1980, in Las Vegas NV and they were married for 42-years until Steve’s passing in March 2022. Frances and Steve enjoyed many trips to foreign locations around the World with a host of lifelong friends. These trips not only included sightseeing, but also scuba diving, skiing, and sailing.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, nephew Nicholas Joel Swanson and her faithful companions Sarah Jane and Brumo. Frances leaves behind cousins Steve Renfro (Brandee), Art Renfro (Paula), brother-in-law, Tim (Cindy); nieces Christine Swanson Smith (Ben) and their son Aiden; Amanda Swanson Tyson (David) and their two children Abigail and Olivia; and grandniece, Hannah Swanson.
Frances had a great group of close friends: that have surrounded her with love and support over the years. Special thanks to Nancy and Mike for your support, love, and sacrifices as well as Maria and other caregivers at The Abbey Westminster and Accent Home Health Care.
A graveside service was held for Frances at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Woodlawn Garden of Memories, 1101 Antoine Drive in Houston, Texas.
