Dan was the only child of Frank Daniel Foster, Sr. and Linda Guidry Foster. He had a loving childhood and reveled in playing, or trying to play, every sport imaginable, a love that continued throughout his life on a baseball field, golf course or tennis court. He was an avid fan of the Houston Cougars, the Houston Colt 45’s/Astros and the Houston Oilers/Texans. Friends used to say that he would watch the Tiddlywink championship if it was on a sports channel.
A graduate of Lamar High School and the University of Houston, he was a devoted member of Sigma Chi, where he formed lifelong friendships and embraced the fraternity’s values of leadership, honor, and brotherhood.
A proud Houstonian, he built a remarkable career in the oil and gas industry, embodying resilience, hard work, and integrity in everything he did. His tenacity and strong will were well known—he was stubborn when he needed to be but always led with his heart, giving selflessly to those he loved.
Dan was a devoted father, a loyal friend, husband and a man who left a lasting impact on everyone he met. His love knew no limits, and his wisdom will continue to guide those who were fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Sally Tillery Foster, his sisters-in-law, Laurie Krueger and Ann Hemphill (Ross), his beloved son Christopher Adam Foster and grandson Cody Ryan Foster. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Daniel Foster, Sr and Linda Guidry Foster, his fraternal and maternal grandparents and other treasured family and friends.
A gravesite service will be held on Monday, March 31st at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale St. Houston, TX 77023, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at St. Martin’s Episcopal Chapel, 717 Sage Rd, Houston, TX 77056, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Houston SPCA, 7007 Old Katy Rd., Houston, TX 77024 or the Sigma Chi Foundation, 5063 Calhoun Rd., TH 1, Houston, TX 77004.
Though Dan is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely. We will miss him deeply but find comfort in knowing he lived a life full of purpose and passion and leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering dedication.
