Frederick Benedict Cataldo

Frederick Benedict Cataldo of Georgetown, Texas passed away on the 18th of October 2023 at the age of 78. He was born on May 17th, 1945 in Wharton, TX. He was the first child of Benedict and Victoria Cataldo. Fred’s brother, Ronnie was born in New York, where they spent their early childhood, with their very large Italian family. The family moved back to Houston, where both Fred and Ronnie attended Mount Carmel Catholic School. It is in Houston where Fred made life-long friends. He continued to foster and hold very dear these relationships his entire life.

Fred attended U of H and continued on to Electrical trade school, where he received his Journeyman’s license. He then continued on with a very successful career, where he met several more of his lifelong friends, whom he considered to be “brothers”.

Fred’s passions and the root of many classic stories included golfing with Larry & Vic, hunting with Larry & Harry and fishing with his cousins, Ron Jones “Cap-i-ton” and his beloved cousin Pat. He never quite brought in the trophies, but boy did he have stories!

Fred married Cherie Jones in 1966 and they raised two daughters together. Fred married Jeannie Schwartz the love of his life in 2004, whom he remained married to until his death.

Fred is preceded in death by his father- Benedict Cataldo, Mother- Victoria Cataldo, Brother- Ron Cataldo and many beloved Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

He is survived by his wife Jeannie Cataldo, Daughters- Sabrina Blok (Karsten), Kimberly Gutierrez (Jesse), grandchildren Sydnee Teel (Gary), Paige Arbing (Daryl), Andrew Gutierrez, Benedict Blok, and Frederick Blok. Great Grandchildren: Colt Arbing, Paislee Teel, and Preslee Teel and several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends, whom he considered to be family.

To have known Fred was to love him, his larger-than-life personality and passions brought life, love and laughter to every room and situation.

The family would like to thank the incredible team of doctors and nursing at MD Anderson for the care and compassion they showed Fred.

Family and friends are invited to attend services and reception on Thursday, October 26th at Forest Park -Lawndale (6900 Lawndale St, Houston 77023). Reception to immediately follow at the home of Kim and Jesse Gutierrez.

Time of Services: Rosary begins at 11:30am, Viewing is at 12:00pm, Funeral Service begins at 1:00pm, with a brief graveside service directly following. Reception will be directly following graveside service.
