Georgia "Jane" Gumb

Georgia Janie "Jane" Gumb, 93, passed away on February 21, 2016 in Houston, Texas. Jane was born on February 27, 1922 in Shongaloo, Louisiana to Nannie and George Methvin. Jane was raised, along with three sisters, in Kilgore, Texas and lived there until moving to Houston in 1949 with her only child, Loretta Katherine Propes, to whom she was always devoted. While Jane worked for Way Engineering she moved to Bellaire, Texas before retiring after many years of dedicated service. She then focused her energies on tending her beautiful flowers and yard, frequenting her favorite resale shops and spending time with her family and friends. Jane is preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Louis Dittmann Jr. She is survived by her granddaughter, Dana Winter and husband, Joe Winter, grandson, Bill Dittmann and wife Tara Dittmann, great grandchildren, Tristan, Layne and Katelyn Dittmann as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. A memorial graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 12 Noon at Forest Park Lawndale cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved daughter and son-in-law.
