Gerald retired with 40 years of service from Cameron Iron Works. He was a charter member of S. P. Waltrip Masonic Lodge No. 1328 A.F & A.M. and Spring Branch Christian Church.
Preceded in death by his wife, Glenna Mitchell. Survived by his sons, Ron Mitchell and wife, Karen, Ritchie Mitchell and wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Cheryl Hillman, Kristin Nafziger and Lauren Billiot; four great-grandchildren and sister, Lucille Buckner.
The family received visitors from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Waltrip Funeral Directors. Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday in the Chapel of The Angels in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Masonic Rites followed at graveside.
